Removing / fitting bay bumpers (late - post 1973)

Tools Needed

• 19mm socket & ratchet  *often these are different sizes
• 13mm socket

Time taken: 5 mins

Method - Front bumper


The front bumper is easy to remove. There are 4 13mm bolts holding it to the deformation panel behind.
These were originally covered by plastic domed caps which can be pried off if they still exist.

Method - rear bumper

The back is held on by 2 bumper brackets, which are held in by 4 large bolts either side of the exhaust. Undo the bolts - these used to be 19mm but size often varies if the vehicle's been worked on in the past
As it's attached to the bumper irons it's a bit heavier and more awkward than the front.
