The original 'hot hatch'
Bought off a mate who used to road rally it, it came with sump guard, 6 point
roll cage etc, which were taken off & been sold. Body-wise it's rough around the edges - going in all the
usual places. Needs a couple of wings, rear arches & some bubbling sorting
on the doors and boot & a bit at the windscreen corner - standard mk1
stuff. Interior is very good bar the usual
drivers seat bolster and the carpet where it was cut for the cage. The duff fuel tank
sender was replaced as were the rear shocks and springs as one was snapped and I got sea-sick going over
bumps . One front wing was replaced with a new one, 1 cv joint and a seized rear
wheel cylinder. I also changed the grill for a quad headlight one. It's a
very quick car for a 1600
Other than that it needed nothing else in the past 12 months apart from regular
servicing.
Sold it after a year to a mate who is going to restore it, as, although the insurance wasn't much (£175
f/c with Footman James), I managed to get hold of a very cheap bug that cost £20
insurance and was tax exempt as a daily driver (only do about 8 miles a day in
the car).
