1302 Eurolook project
Interior / ICE

A chaotic w/e followed, cutting door panels to size, working out mounting places and mechanisms for the inner door handles etc.
Rich built a sub box and a rear shelf for the speakers. A mate, Ben (ICE, alarms, window tinting etc: 07966171470) , came over to give a hand with the ice and getting everything installed and working before it was all hidden by the trimming. The ICE is fairy modest consisting of a sub, 2x 6x9's and an amp running off a leisure battery via a split charger. Head unit was a clarion with built in hard drive, ps2 had been gathering dust in the living room for years and the flip down screen was pretty cheap too. Amp, head unit, sub & screen were from Bass Junkies in Solihull. Ben wired in an inverter to run the ps2. The ps2 is actually 12v so we could have taken it apart and hard wired it into the car but wanted to be able to take it out if wanted elsewhere. I will be putting some mid range speakers and tweeters in the front kick panels when time / £ allows.

Monday the car went off to the trimmer - Chris at Custom Coachtrimming near Evesham.
Chris does some excellent work and has done quite a few show winning interiors. As our budget was £500 for the whole interior, this one certainly wouldn't be (average show interior is about £2k apparently), but chris still did a top job. The interior was going to be dark to set off the varios electrics and the dash gauges. First off he started by checking the rear seat fit, which was spot on. Next was the headlining (a gray one I had picked up 2/h unused for a future project) - I've never seen a headliner go in so quick. He then started on the interior panels and the acoustic carpet on the sub box. We had decided a pattern the previous w/e and chosen the materials. there were 3 materials on each panel and some stitching to break it up. When I picked the car up a few days later, the interior was transformed and it felt like the project was finally getting somewhere at last.

Once the car was back Ben came over and helped tidy the electrics up, the gauges were connected up and everything tested. Lee (Volksmagic) had invested a lot of time in building a gauge pod to go above the windscreen which mirrored the contours of the dash. This was fitted and the 4 gauges (oil temp, oil pressure, volts & petrol) wired in. Rich fitted the carpet (again 2/h unused) and we were almost there.
