Front Valance / Wheel Well /
Bumper Mount
The front valance had been replaced by the previous owner, but had gone
rusty and had a dent in it. There was also some dodgyness in the corners behind
it so it was cut off to be replaced. This revealed some filler on the n/s/f
wheel well edge so Rich set to with the grinder. The dust cloud got bigger 'till
there was a white-out and once that had cleared some hidden accident damage was
revealed. It'd had a n/s/f shunt at some point in it's life and this area had
been repaired by battering it as flat as possible then covering it with filler.
So out came the grinder and the area was cut off. You can get repair panels for
this area but only the complete wheel well. As there rests of it was sound it'd
have been a waste to replace the whole lot so I made a panel from sheet, tacked
it in, then used a hammer and dolly to get the correct shape & curve. The
n/s/f bumper mount was looking a bit crusty so I decided to replace that at the
same time as the valance was off. The front end was mocked up to check clearance
and lines and the valance & bumper mount were welded in.
